Cinnie combined conflict management and coaching principles to develop this model which helps people gain increased competence to be able to engage in conflict, to manage and resolve their interpersonal disputes and to effectively participate in dispute resolution processes such as mediation. Cinnie coaches worldwide and trains others to use this model in Canada, the U.S., Australia, Ireland and other parts of the world. She has been the consultant on the Conflict Management Coaching Program for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration since 2004 and provides consultation on the development of such programs for other organizations. Her web site is www.cinergycoaching.com In this episode we learn how conflict coaching can help YOU. Cinnie Noble talks about how she moved from a mediation practice to one of developing a full-time conflict coaching practice. Her conflict coaching model is a structured model developed from an evidence-based research. We highlight how conflict coaching is different from counseling and other forms of coaching. The CINERGY conflict coaching model supports one in becoming conflict competent in engaging in conflict constructively. This type of coaching also supports one in moving through specific disputes. • 11/04/09--17:30: Path To The Soul With Dr. Ashok Bedi, M.D. - Nov 05,2009 (chan 2930600)
  • Join Jacqueline Foreman and Dr. Ashok Bedi, M.D. as they discuss his ground-breaking book Path To The Soul: The Union of Eastern and Western Wisdom to Heal Your Body, Mind and Soul. Bedi, a Wisconsin-based psychiatrist and Jungian psychoanalyst, offers a Hindu spin on therapy, challenging readers to rethink childhood conflict and marital strife in terms of karma and dharma. Bedi's discussion of chakrasAthe seven energy centers said to exist in each personAillustrates the strengths and weaknesses of his approach. The first chakra, located in the perineum and ruled by the god Ganesha, governs people's sense of emotional security. For example, Paul, a client of Bedi's, has unstable romantic relationships. Bedi traces his problems to the first chakra, and suggests that Paul's recovery necessarily involves "correcting imbalances" among his chakras. That's an intriguing theory, but Bedi is so vague and his prose so confusing ("When he first came to me, Paul was stuck in the pignali nada of the root chakra, which manifested as untempered masculine enterprise") that readers may never quite understand just what the chakra has to do with their love lives, or what they should do about it. Meditate on the chakra? Draw a picture of the chakra? Pray about the chakra? When Bedi does give straightforward guidance, it is banal: when trying to overcome problems in relationships, for example, people should "identify" the qualities in others that they like and dislike. Bedi's claim that Hindu spiritual disciplines can augment traditional therapy is suggestive, but readers will have to go elsewhere to deduce the mechanics of integrating the two. Drawing from Hindu and Christian spiritual wisdom, medical science, psychiatric technique, and over twenty-five years of clinical experience, Dr. Ashok Bedi demonstrates the clear link between psychological disease and our intrinsic hunger for spiritual union. Each symptom is seen as a crucial whisper from the soul.

  • 02/21/10--07:00: Action for Children in Conflict in Kenya - Feb 21,2010 (chan 2930600)

It was clear to me from the beginning that Eleanor’s wealth of philanthropic endeavors is playing a really crucial role in the growth of this outstanding organization. AFOC not only delivers holistic, sustainable, educational and social services to street children living in the district of Thika, they also have an incredible staff of global humanitarians who bring a vibrant skill set to these vulnerable communities. • 02/26/10--07:00: Health Care vs. Wealth Care: The Great American Conflict of 2010 - Feb 26,2010 (chan 2930600)
  • The conflicting arguments regarding Health Care Reform from the primary political parties appear to remain caught in two areas of concern. One side is concerned about the human capital regarding Health Care and the other is concerned about the financial capital regarding Wealth Care. Both are quite legitimate concerns. However only one can get enough resources to produce a successful resolve at a time. Therefore I wish to help by sharing a method that we teach in our workshops for solution driven charitable organizations. Once they have listed the problems that they believe are crucial to meeting their own goals and objectives We guide them through the task of focusing on a single problem to address first. We instruct them to imagine that there are two people standing in front of you. One person is suffers from problem A and the other is suffering from problem B. Now realizing that you only have the resources to address one problem at a time, you must choose which problem you are most compelled to fix first. Keep in mind that you can plan to address the other one at another time. In our workshops, people tend to chose the one with which they have personally suffered or have personally shared in someone else having suffered in that area. Choosing between the issue of Health Care vs. Wealth Care appears to be quite similar. People that passionately express concern about the financial strain that could result in health care reform are truly concerned with the suffering caused by what they believe could lead to economic ruin. At the same time, those who are just as passionate about health care reform are just as concerned about the critical lack of affordable medical attention and adequate treatment that could lead to permanent ailments and loss of lives. It would be interesting to poll Americans given the scenarios and questions above to uncover which problem America should address first- Health Care or Wealth Care? This program explores those questions.

  • 09/19/10--15:00: MUTULA DISSES ICC CHIEF LUIS OCAMPO - Sep 19,2010 (chan 2930600)
  • Justice minister Mutula Kilonzo on Sunday came under criticism for suggesting that the International Criminal Court calls off its investigations into post-election violence. Mr Kilonzo had said that with the passage of the Constitution and creation of new institutions, post-election violence suspects could be tried at home. Lobby group leaders said the minister’s attack on the International Criminal Court was a betrayal of Kenya’s commitment to end impunity for human rights atrocities. “It further exposes the depth and extent of a well-choreographed political scheme being played by powerful forces within the government which affects not just justice for post-election violence but also the Truth Commission and the implementation of the Constitution,” International Centre for Policy and Conflict executive director Ndung’u Wainaina said. In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Nation, Mr Kilonzo, whose docket is crucial for ensuring justice to post-election violence victims, said that the new laws would strengthen the Judiciary and police to deal with the chaos that left 1,133 people dead and more than 600,000 uprooted from their homes. Kenya National Commission on Human Rights commissioner Hassan Omar said the statement raised questions over the government’s commitment to the ICC process, just weeks after it attracted local and international uproar by inviting wanted Sudan President Omar al-Bashir to attend the promulgation of the new Constitution. Mr Omar said that Mr Kilonzo’s remarks symbolise the government’s slow diversion from respecting and cooperating with the court as political re-alignments emerge ahead of 2012 elections. He said it will take two to three years before the Constitution starts functioning well, a thing that if relied on, could delay justice to victims and perpetrators of the violence. “There’s absolutely no basis for substituting the ICC with the new Constitution. The process must go on,” Mr Omar said.

  • Maria knew she wanted to help others as early as 7 years old. Her early thoughts lead her to pursue a Master’s in Social Work. She successfully obtained her degree, and immediately was hired as a social worker for a residential treatment program for adolescent boys. She provided group, individual & family therapy for boys ranging in age of 15-17. After 3.5 years in this high stress volatile environment, she realized she wanted the chance to work in win-win situations. She obtained a position as a supervisor in Pacific Bell. Interestingly enough she utilized all the same skills as she had in juvenile probation. In this position she developed skills as a leader, trainer and facilitator. Over the next 8 years, she focused on the challenges of communication. A lifestyle change led her to pursue a new opportunity. She was hired into a position with Vanguard, as an employee relations specialist. In this role, she discovered coaching. Her work with both employees and leaders lead her to explore helping people find their own answers rather than offering advice or telling them what to do. She pursued Coach training with Coach U and eventually became credentialed. Maria applies a coach approach to all that she does at Vanguard. As a result coaching is being utilized throughout the organization. Her coaching includes working with employees & leaders. This coaching involves areas of performance management, conflict resolution, career advancement, strengths assessment & challenging people situations. She trains & coaches leaders on the skills and techniques of Crucial Conversations. Maria is a Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation. She is currently the President if the ICF Phoenix Chapter. Her other involvements have been as a mentor at Freshstart, member of Toastmasters & SHRM.
